Welcome!

Hi everyone!

My name is Liesbeth, I live in Belgium and I’m 25 years old (and in a few months, I can add another year!).
My native language is Dutch, and I’m also fluent in English. Additionally, I also speak French, Japanese and a little bit of German. In the future, I hope to also add Korean, or maybe another language, to the list.
I have a twin sister named Marlies, who is also my best friend. We’ve always had the same hobbies and interests, so we’re pretty much always together. Which is why we decided to buy an apartement together, where we are currently spending a lot of our free time painting all the rooms before moving in.

In secondary school I studied Economics and Maths. I actually wanted to study Economics and Languages, but I was persuaded by the teacher to choose Maths anyway. And until now, I never regretted that decision.
Afterwards, I also spend six years at university. First I studied Japanology, a choice I made because of my strong interest in Japanese language and culture. After those four years I wanted to study some more, and spend another two years studying Business Communication. After obtaining two Master’s degrees, I decided I had studied enough and it was time to start looking for my first job.
But even with those degrees, I didn’t have it easy. The biggest problem was my lack of professional experience. Eventually I found a job at Secretary Plus Outsourcing Solutions as a Project Assistant. Here, it is my job to do temporary projects (ranging from two months to one year) at other companies.

But now it’s time for the most important part of this post: why I started this blog.
My interest in writing is definitely not recent, and it started because of a passion for language, both Dutch and other languages. When I was fifteen, I started writing stories and poems. It was very amateurish, but also a lot of fun. I’ve also been a beta reader on the same website where I posted my own stories. So I wasn’t just writing stuff myself, I also checked the stories of others (both in Dutch and in English) in term of spelling and writing style.
In short, I spend a lot of time on writing.
About halfway through my time at university, I noticed that I stated writing less and less, both because of my busy studies and because of a writer’s block. I decided to stop writing for a while, until I found the passion and inspiration again. I also quit beta reading, which I had done for almost six years.

Fast forward to a few years later, and I miss writing a lot. I’ve thought about starting to write stories and poems again, but I eventually decided to try something new: my own blog!
On this blog, I want to write about everything that interests me: language, culture, travelling, music, manga, movies, etc., but also about my personal life. I hope some people will find this blog interesting.

This is my very first blog, so wish me luck!
